GLOBAL WARMING
Definition- Global Warming can be defined as an increase in average temperature of earth's atmosphere due to accumulation of green house gases in atmosphere causing greenhouse effect.
RESULTS OF GLOBAL WARMING
1.Melting of glaciers.
2.Rise in average sea level due to melting of glaciers.
3.Floods and loss of soil.
4. Forest fire etc.
GREEN HOUSE EFFECT
Sun rays fall on earths surface. A small part of radiation is absorbed by earth and rest are reflected back to the atmosphere. Gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons trap these radiations. These gases are called Greenhouse Gases and radiations trapped by these gases warm the earth. This warming of earth is called the greenhouse effect.
HOW ARE THESE GASES FORMED?
1. Burning of fossil fuels release carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide into the atmosphere.
2. Burning of coal in thermal power plants.
3. Increase i industries and deforestation.
4. Evaporation of water from oceans.
5. CO2 produced by all animals as a part of metabolism.
